Go Daddy is not longer supporting SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) that is making its way thru Congress. In a statement CEO Warren Adelman outline why:
“Fighting online piracy is of the utmost importance, which is why Go Daddy has been working to help craft revisions to this legislation – but we can clearly do better,” Warren Adelman, Go Daddy’s newly appointed CEO, said. “It’s very important that all Internet stakeholders work together on this. Getting it right is worth the wait. Go Daddy will support it when and if the Internet community supports it.”
This change may also be a result of the support of users like you. As multiple sites has been setup to boycott Go Daddy support for SOPA. One such site is godaddyboycott.org. Which was setup specifically for user to express their disapproval of Go Daddy support for SOPA.
Introduce by Congresman from Texas Lamar Smith in October 2011. The bill (H.R. 3261) has become what most are calling the Great Fire Wall of the US. The bill is design to allow ISPs and Domain Service Providers to block access to sites that are suspected of piracy.
